Michael Lezius war lange Jahre Pflegevater, noch immer engagiert er sich ehrenamtlich im Kinderschutz. Nachdem die dreijährige Yagmur durch Schläge ihrer Mutter 2013 in Hamburg getötet wurde, gründete der ehemalige Diplom-Kaufmann die Yagmur-Gedächtnisstiftung. Jedes Jahr organisiert er einen Gedenkveranstaltung mit Fachvorträgen zum Thema Kinderschutz. Für seinen Einsatz wurde Michael Lezius im Februar 2020 mit dem Bundesverdienstkreuz ausgezeichnet. Im Courage Cast spricht der 79-Jährige darüber, was ihn seit über 40 Jahren antreibt, über seine Erfahrungen als Pflegevater und über noch immer bestehende Defizite im Kinderschutz.
